The Keystudio Keybot is an Arduino based robot based on the flexible open-source Arduino development platform. The Keybot offers educators, parents and kids a great opportunity to build on their existing coding skills and take the knowledge of coding, robotics and electronics to a higher level. The Keybot can be programmed using either the Arduino IDE (Integrated Development Environment) or using mixly which is a block based programming language built on top of Google’s Blockly project. Experienced makers/hackers can start programming the robot using the Arduino based IDE (C as the development language) while beginners can use the mixly block based language to program the Keybot. Here’s a list of all relevant technical specifications –

  1. The board is powered by an on-board ATMEGA328P-AU processor.
  2. 8 RJ11 ports that allow you to extend capability by adding other sensors to e.g. GPS, temperature sensors, motion sensors, etc.
  3. Embedded on the board is a TB6612FNG DC motor drive chip.
  4. The Keybot board supports two motor interfaces.
  5. Also on-board is a passive buzzer
  6. Ability to power the board using a 7-12v DC power source
  7. Power LED, RX/TX LED’s
  8. Bluetooth header and add-on board
  9. An external on-off switch, a separate bluetooth on-off switch and a reset button
  10. Can be programmed using Arduino IDE, Ardublocks or using mixly.
