Check Out The CoderDojo BOO Challenge

CoderDojo International has just launched their “CoderDojo Boo Challenge” to get us all into the halloween “spirit” (pun intended). It’s been a while since we’ve seen a CoderDojo challenge, so time to get making and coding!!!

Here’s what the CoderDojo Boo challenge website has to say, ” It’s time to get SPOOKY, and we’ve got just the TRICK to make sure you get all the TREATS that this fall season has to offer. Get ready for the CoderDojo BOO Challenge!

CoderDojo Boo Challenge

We’d like to invite young people from Dojos worldwide to create a project with the word BOO in mind. How does it work, you ask? The project you submit has to incorporate BOO: bats, orange, or October! That means that your project can be about anything you want, so long as it includes at least ONE of the following:

  • bats
  • the color orange
  • something related to the month of October, i.e pumpkins, fall, Halloween, candy corn, people in costumes, etc.

You get to create a project using whatever coding language you want! Scratch, Python, HTML/CSS, App Inventor, Blender — you name it! All of them are at your full disposal to design the best project you can think of.”

Read more about the CoderDojo Boo challenge and sign up at the CoderDojo Website. Read over the full guidelines below and submit your project by November 12, 2019 at rpf.io/boo

What is a CoderDojo – CoderDojo is a global movement of free, volunteer-led, community based programming clubs for young people. We are the Altona North (Melbourne, Australia) chapter of this amazing initiative! At CoderDojo Altona North (https://altonanorthdojo.com.au), young people aged between 7 and 17, learn how to code (Scratch, Python, etc.), interact with the real world using sensors and the Arduino, develop programs on the Raspberry Pi, work with the BBC micro:bit, develop websites, develop mobile apps, develop simple programs, develop games, build robots and explore various aspects of technology in an informal, safe, and creative environment. In addition to learning to code, exploring the basics of electronics and robotics, attendees meet like minded people and are exposed to a world of possibilities of technology. An individuals creativity is the only limit.
