The folks from Microsoft Makecode have organized their first ever Game Jam. This is supposed to be a week-long game jam based on Microsoft MakeCode Arcade, a game engine for retro pixel-art games that run in the browser or on dedicated low-cost handhelds like the Kittenbot Meowbit (https://www.oztoylib.com.au/product/kittenbot-meowbit-programmable-handheld-game-consolebbc-microbit-compatible/).
As part of the Game Jam each of the participants need to design a game that’s no longer than 5 seconds long. At the end the guys from MakeCode Arcade will string each of these individual games together to create one single large game. Guidelines for game include –
- Your game must be exactly five seconds long. Please use our provided game template with the timer code baked in.
- The inputs will be restricted to the directional (up, down, left, right) and A/B buttons.
- No full screen images. We’re going to be combining these games into one large file, so we’re keeping a close eye on space.
- Keep the games PG-13: no NSFW, offensive, or excessively violent content.
