Kids these days seem to have taken to technology and digital products like fish to water. At a very early age kids are starting to learn how to use digital technologies to get complex stuff done, things our parents would never have dreamed off. Kids are using computers at school and also increasingly at home to go online and stay connected with their peers. Kids learn how to use google effectively to get answers for specific questions, listen to music on Spotify, play their favorite games online or just head over to Youtube to hear their favorite artists. With internet access becoming ubiquitous kids are even wanting to connect to their favorite games, youtube channels, friends while on the move.
While there is definitely benefit in being conversant with digital products and different aspects of technology, its overuse that one needs to be careful of and as parents it’s something that most of us are concerned about.
So what we’ve decided to do is to put together a list of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) resources that you could get your kids to consider spending time on (in balance i.e.). So rather that mindlessly watching life hacks on youtube or binge watching youtube stars talk away endlessly on mind numbing subjects you could recommend they look at some interesting, mentally stimulating and invigorating STEM channels at Youtube. Here’s a list of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) channels at Youtube we’ve stumbled across. Please note that these are free channels on Youtube and we haven’t reviewed every video that hosted there. Also, do note that Youtube survives on ads, so it’s likely your child will be forced to see digital ads promoting different products while they ware watching these videos.
